How to reach:
• For public transport:It is approx 113 km from Kolkata.After exit Vidyasagar Setu(2nd Hooghly Bridge) take Kona Express.After 8km slight left onto the ramp to NH16,take  the ramp on the right to NH16,after 62 Km take the exit toward NH116B,trun right onto NH116B from Mechagram,continue 30 km straight to Ghatal on NH116B.You well cross Silabati river at Ghatal before Ghatal Central bus Stand.
• For public transport:Take any train from Howrah toward Kharagpu,Medinipur,Panskura and travel for approx 2 hour and get off Panskura Junction.Take any Ghatal or Bardwan bus from Panskura bus stand(for fastest transport you need to find Bardwan bus on this time,if its not available take any bus to Mechagram or ask to local people for Kanakpur,it is opposite of the bus stand,other side of rail line.You can take van toward Mechagram from here and get long route bus like Kolkata-Ghatal,Howrah-Ghatal ,Bardwan, Ramjibanpur, Tarkeshwar bus....I advices you please ignore this route if you are not confident.)and travel for approx one hour and get of Ghatal Central Bus stop.You well cross Silabati river before Ghatal Central bus.
• Best time to visit: Any time,but if you come between January 16 to 23 you can visit Ghatal festival named 'Sishu mela' or you can also came during Durga puja,cause Ghatal popular in theme puja.

Ghatal,a small town of Paschim Medinipur,West Bengal.It is not only a town for Ghatal's people,it is feeling,love, emotion and a human of the heart for them.
Ghatal municipality is more than 150 year old. As record Ghatal municipality was formed in 1869 but
Ghatal town is much older.
Built on the banks of the river Shilabati,
the town has been prosperous in trade and commerce since ancient times.In the time of Yolandutch Ghatal was famous at looms and wool business.After that British captured it and make Neel Colony.Ghatal was growing with Neil business. Shilabati waterways was an affordable transportation as the Ghatal business was flourished since ancient times,
for that so many Ghats were built here.
It is believed that the name Ghatal originated from this ghats.There are many historical monuments scattered in the whole town and out side the town.VasaPole or Floating Bridge is one of them.

British business man Mr. Watson made this in 1850.
This bridge is made by spreading wooden planks on some boats with excellent balance.Its call floating Bridge for it's floating condition.The interesting facts is this bridge automatically adjusts it's hight with river water level up down. Although Saheb made it for his personal use because Saheb's largest silk hut(Kithu) ,
was on one side of the river and Saheb lived on the other side of the river.Only Vidyasagar could use this with out Sahebs .It was opend for general people under Bengal ferry act in 22 September,1904.Around this Kuthi several trading centres were formed which today know as Kuthi Bazar.This Kuthi Bazar and this Vasapole is most attractive historical place to visit for tourist which located around 1 km to Ghatal Central bus stand.

Issarchandra Vidyasagar,the bright star of bengaly language was bron on September,1820 in the village of Birsingha in Ghatal.
His birthplace and his belongings are still preserved here.
The Vagabati Viddyalay which made by Vidyasagar as his mother name is also here.Birsingha village is located around 5km from Singdanga Bus stop on the road of Ghatal-Khirpai.

In the time of British rules approx in1900 so many indigo hut and minaret ware built here.Ruins of A minaret are still found on the ground next to the Silabati river.
This minaret height is approx 6o ft.It is located around 3km from Ghatal Central bus stand.

In the way of minar a Beautiful and holy Asharm are located behind the road call Anukul Ashram or Satsanga Bihar.
It is found 1.5 km from Central bus stand. It was built in 1974.This Asharm is on one side of the road and the river is on other side and A children park found between the river and road.
The holy prayer sound of the Asharm in every evening and early morning make Ghatal people stress free and joyfully. Even you can join this prayer.
Man checked time to follow shadow position of a stick in ancient time.Its called Sundail.A Sundail that made by a famous engineer Mr Prassnra Kumar Paul are still found on
Khangapur High School ground that
located on Rankichak road around 8 km from Ghatal College more.
