How to reach:
• Personal car:It is approx 124 km from Kolkata.After exit Vidyasagar Setu(2nd Hooghly Bridge) take Kona Express.After 8km slight left onto the ramp to NH16,take  the ramp on the right to NH16,after continue 62 Km take the exit toward NH116B,trun right onto NH116B from Mechagram,
Sinhdanga Bus Stop
continue 36 km straight to Singdanga on NH116B.You well cross Silabati river at Ghatal before 10 km of Singdanga. Take right to Birsingha road for 5 km from Singdanga bus stop.We advices you to ask local people for Vidyasagar Birthplace on this road for avoiding miss routing.
Public transport:Take any train from Howrah to Kharagpur,Medinipur,Panskura route and travel for approx 2 hour and get off Panskura Junction.Take Bardwan bus from Panskura bus stand,if you find no Bardwan bus available on this time,take any bus to Mechagram(or ask to local people for Kanakpur,it is opposite of the bus stand,other side of rail line.You can take van for Mechagram from here.)and get Bardwan,Arambagh,Ramjibanpur, Chandrakona or any bus of Khirpai route and travel for approx one hour thirty min and get off Singdanga Bus stop.You well cross Silabati river at Ghatal before 20 min of Singdanga.You get tekar(small car) from Singdanga bus stand,it will take 20 min for Birsingha Vidyasagar Memorial.
Best time to visit:Expect Thursday every day it is open in day time,if you find it close you can request to Diplip Babu Caretaker of this memorial for open it.He is very helpful and you found him behind this memorial or ask any other people in here for him.

26 September,1820 A bright star of Bengaly was bron in Birsingha Village of Hooghly diactrict in Bengaly Presidency,British India.That is now in West Mednipur district of West Bengal,Independent India.
Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar Mahasaya composed Varnaparichay that causes we get a well-organized and well-appointed Bengaly language.For his great role now day we can easily learn this language.
Issarchandra was bron in 1820 in the place on the lap of Bhagavati Devi.Grand father Ramjoy Tarakabhusan named him Ishwar Chandra Bandhyopadhyay.Father Thakurdas Bandhyopadhyay lived in Kolkata.At just four years nine months old Ishwar Chandra started his stady at Sonaton Bishwas's local school although he did not study here for long because there was more panismet than education.So Ramjoy Tarkabhusan admitted him to Kalikanta's school.He learned about conventional bengaly language from here.At just 8 year old on November,1828 Ishwar Chandra walked to Kolkata with father Thakurdas Bandyopadhyay.His father wanted to judge him when he was teaching him about English numbers by showing him milestones on the road.He hid the number eight from him. He showed nine after seven but Vidyasagar caught it.Tahkurdas felt glad to his talented son.
Ishwar Chandra joined The Sanskrit College and completed his stady in English,
Sanskrit Grammar, Literature, Alankar, Vedanta, Smriti and Astronomy with excellence.He got so many prizes and scholarship in every classes for his talent. 

He used gas light of street for stady and cooked his own food as it was not possible for him to living economical comfortable life after paying his home rent and bearing the cost of tuition.
It is said that Vidyasagar was so obsessed with studying that when he sat down to study at night, he tied his tiki to the roof with rope so that he would not fall asleep.
In 1834,when he was in class 6 ,he married Dinamayee Devi,daughter of Shatrughna Bhattacharya.
22 April,1839 Ishwar Chandra passed with excellence in Hindu law committee examination and the committee provided him the certificate,there the title 'Vidyasagar' used for 1st time.
After a long 12 year in 1841 he passd out from Sanskrit college and same year 29 December joined Fort William college as a head of Bengali department with 50 rupees salary.
He was very devoted to his mother.
Once his mother celled him at home and he went to resign at Fort William college because his leave not approved then Mr Marshal impressd and approved his leave.Even one time he came to his mother by swime crossed terrible flooded Damodar river to keep his promise to his mother.Afrter Fort William on 6 April,1846 he joined Sanskrit college as a assistant secretary and
composed his first bengaly book 'Betal Panchabinsati' from Hindi book 'Baital Pachisi.He Translated and printed out Ananda Mangal bengaly book from Annada Mangal on his own established press 'Sanskrit Jantra'.

On other side his self respect was immense.Once Mr.Kaar principal of Hindu college insulted Vidyasagar by putting his foot on table when he went to meet him,for answering Mr kaar Vidyasagar did same when Mr kaar came to Vidyasagar.After leaving Sanskrit collage again he joind Fort William college and again as principal of Sanskrit collage he spend his working life.During this time he radically improved the education system of Sanskrit colleges.
In 1853 he established a unpaid school in his village Birsingha.In 1855 he joind as a south Bengal school Inspector and built many model and Bengali Medium Schools in many districts in south Bengal as Nodia,Hooghly,Bardawan and Medinipur.
Vidyasagar was a staunch against of child marriage. He wrote many books against child marriage as Balla Bibaha Dosh.He also sent letters to British Government for approving widow marriage and to preventing child marriage.
In 1856,Katha Mala based on Ishoper Galpo and self-written book 'Charitabali' were published. On December 7 in this year,he arranged the first widow's wedding at his friend Rajkrisna Bandhopadhyay's house 12,Sukiya Street.The bridegroom was Srischandra Vidyaratna,youngest son of Ramdhan Tarkavagish,the principal of Sanskriti College and Vidyasagar's friend and the bride was Brambhananda Mukhapadhyay's widow daughter, twelve year old Kalimati.He established 7 school at Hooghly and one girl school at Bardhaman in November to December months this year.Between November 1857 to May 1857 he spent 854 rupees every month for establishing 35 girl school with 1300 students in whole South Bengal.
On 3rd November 1858,he resigned as principal of Sanskrit Collage for a disagreement with hade of the education department.Only just 39 year old he braked all relations with Goverment.
He was a sea of ​​knowledge, a social reformer, a writer and on the other hand he was a sea of ​​mercy.
On 2 August 1864,he sent 1500 rupees to  Michael Madhusudan Dutta to France for helping him pay his indebted.In 1867, during the non-farming, he set up food stalls at his own expense to provide food, clothing and medical care for men and women.He is known as the Sea of ​​Mercy for his abundant helping to people.
It is said that his mother was idol for him.Once Vidyasagar brought a new winter shawl for his mother, he put the new shawl in a box and started using the old one,after showing that he asked reason to his mother,his mother said that too many people in my village have not a shwal like my old shwal after seeing that I can't use the new one.After that Vidyasagar distributed so many shawls to villagers and his mother started using new shwal happily.
He left Birsingh in 1869 after his ancestral home had burnt out.
On 12 April 1871, Mother Bhagabati Debi passed away in Kashi.Aftr that he went to Karmatar for change because of physically and mentally sickness. He brought a heavily and build a school hare.He also created a fund for helping poor Hindu widows and donated too much to Shnowtal.
His father Thakurdas Bandopadhyay daid in Kashi in 1875.
On this time he made a house at Badurbagan,Kolkata.On 5 August 1882,Ramkrishna Paramahansa Dev came to meet Vidyasagar in this house. It was a historical meetup.
In 1884 he wrote 'Bazra Bilas' using 'Kassachit Upajukta Bhaipassa' pseudonym and Bidhaba Bibaha and Jasahor Hindu Darma using 'Kassachit Tattaneswin' pseudonym.

On 13 August 1887,wife Dinamayee Devi passed away.
On 14 April,1890 He established Bhagabati Viddyalay in Birsingha Village.
At 18 min of 2 AM,On 29 July 1891,Vidyasagar passed away at his Badurbagan's house due to liver cancer.
In 1891 his incomplete biography completed by his son Narayan Chandra Vidyaratna.
Now the Vidyasagar Bridge in Calcutta is dedicated to him and Vidyasagar University is built in his name.
